OUR MISSION
We aim to develop, support, and connect partnerships between education agencies and research institutions in order to improve the relationships between research, policy, and practice.
OUR OBJECTIVES
We help partnerships to:
Develop and share best partnership practices
Synthesize research findings and build knowledge
Produce comparative research and facilitate cross-partnership collaborations
Advance policies and system reforms
HOW WE CONCEPTUALIZE OUR WORK
We have come to conceptualize our work in four main buckets:
WE CURATE
We curate knowledge for our members and the RPP field at large.
For example:
WE TEACH
We teach about RPPs by offering training and professional development opportunities.
For example:
WE BROKER
We broker connections between partnerships, organizations, people, roles, and ideas in the RPP and education fields.
For example:
OUR HISTORY
NNERPP was launched in 2016 at the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University in Houston, Texas, in response to the need to create a permanent infrastructure for RPP learning and support.
Prior to NNERPP, numerous singular efforts by leaders from several partnerships to convene regularly in order to share best practices and learn from each other took place. With NNERPP as a sustainable support system, we help catalyze the ongoing development of individual partnerships and the advancement of the field as a whole. Through creating opportunities for shared learning across previously isolated groups, NNERPP eliminates inefficiencies resulting from unnecessary duplication of efforts and is building a knowledge base for how to do RPP work and facilitate the use of research evidence in policy and practice.
Starting out with 16 founding RPP members in 2016, we now have 74 members in the network from all across the U.S., representing a number of different partnership types, research foci, and locations. To continue to be responsive to emerging needs from both our community and the larger RPP field, NNERPP has continually refined and expanded its services and opportunities to connect and learn. The NNERPP Annual Forum –the annual gathering of network members, funders, and friends to learn about “all things RPP”– has evolved considerably since the first meeting in 2016, with more nuanced session topics that reflect a deeper understanding of RPPs. Our RPP Knowledge Clearinghouse provides the most relevant and up-to-date resources from across the web curated specifically to facilitate your learning of education RPPs. We now publish bi-weekly newsletters, our own quarterly magazine (NNERPP Extra), and yearly Annual Reports, we host monthly Virtual Brown Bags and support several Subnetworks, we have a strong social media presence and up-to-date job postings from the RPP world. We are excited about expanding our learning of RPPs in this space!
