Below you’ll find answers and resources to the following question:
HOW DO RESEARCH-PRACTICE PARTNERSHIPS FIT IN WITH ESSA?
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) has resulted in a shift towards greater local flexibility in making key decisions about K-12 education programs. This devolution of power back to the states changes states’ and districts’ roles from relatively simple implementers of programs to administrators having to approve and monitor programs. As a result, greater capacity demands are required of local and state education agencies in determining which “evidence-based” approaches should be adopted to improve low-performing schools. The resources in this section provide guidance for local and state education agencies as they work to fulfill ESSA requirements and discuss the particular role of research-practice partnerships in supporting ESSA implementation.
